Lazy Hearted Man
03:28
|
|||
I'm just a lazy hearted man
oh I hope you understand
I'd rather die than work these knuckles to the bone
quietly dreaming alone
So if I never leave here, I'll never be late again
and if our hands just stay held, then our eyes won't start to rain
I'm just a lazy muddle headed man
sat on this wall outside my home
The breath thieving girl walks by and I begin to wheeze
whilst spiders wrap their webs around my face
So if I never leave here, I'll never be late again
and if our hands just stay held, then our eyes won't start to rain
and if she comes towards me, the spiders will bind us tight
so I'll just sing different names till the name I sing is right

Ramshackle House
01:59
|
|||
Inside a ramshackle house, deep in the forest
there lives a girl who I'd really like to meet
she goes to hidden places, where she can never be found
she sits beneath where the branches meet the ground

Horse Called Slow
04:11
|
|||
Where are you my dancing friend, I'm a soldier who's lost his legs, spent all night dancing in the rain, with a cat called worry and a dog called shame, a rat called special and a horse called slow, a green eyed monster and a red eyed toad, and I brought them all to your front door, and we just stood there crying
I saw what you thought, I heard what you said, I'll dance with the broken and lie with the dead, got a wandering eye and a changeable head, a cupboard full of nothing, spiders in my bed, an old dark cloud of uncertainty, do I carry you or do you carry me across the threshold
Oh my god, let's kill it before it starts
Courted, married, buried, dead, I've killed the flame before we've even met, I'm crouched in your doorway, cold and scared, watching the sway of girls in summer dresses walk by
I'm a lonely soldier, just wandering through the mines, through the mines...
I'm just trying to tie these laces, whilst drowning in a shining sea of faces, new sun rises and this dark soul's in stitches, walking slowly burning broken bridges, walking slowly burning broken bridges.....

Green Moat
06:26
|
|||
The weeds have grown tall around the green moat, all summer we stayed to swim with the ghost, she slept all day upon the rocks, took flight while the wind played sad winter songs
The snow is so deep the birds starve to death, let's follow the footprints of the one who knows best, the skaters carve all these furrows in my brow, the ice is so thick that it blocks out the sound
These arctic hearts, they just take so long to thaw, skin is turning green at the bottom of the moat, it's cold down here, but it won't last long, fish will dart into our skulls like tiny silver scars

My friend your head is wilting, so sadly in the storm, let's build a boat from matches, set sail
My friend your hand is trembling, you're spilling your drink again, let's build a boat from matches, set sail
Your words turn into mayflies, they're snatching at the light, let's get washed on the red tide, rough seas and jagged climbs, let's build a boat from matches, set sail

I Can See My Breath
04:48
|
|||
The air is cold in this old house today, I can see my breath, and it's making broken shapes in this dead space, of snow capped mountains and frozen lakes
Lost my gun in the lake today, stepped out too far, what a stupid mistake, the creatures are happy they're glad they came, the show was so good, no one will die today
And the nature of ice is to throw you off course, to make you feel safe until it cracks and you fall, but of course this all just highlights my mistake, I should have worked out how to turn on the gas
But now it's too late, and I'm colder than the prey of a shark attack

Skimming Stones
04:34
|
|||
Skimming stones across the bay, the sky lights up, my mind's unmade, let's find a boat and lift those chains then head out to sea
We snuck inside four crumbling walls, dreamt that ruin was our home, but the roof was open to the storm, we walked to the shore, to sing our stupid song to the dawn
The stones we throw make hoops which grow and grow, then disappear
On your ship I'll stow away until the coast is clear
The lighthouse blinks a warning eye, as daylight seeps into the sky, I so rarely see this time, I've been up all night
Stayed up howling at the moon, I'll sleep right through the afternoon, If time hates you, what's there to do but watch it all slide, and sing your stupid songs to the dawn
The stones we throw make hoops which grow and grow, then disappear
On your ship I'll stow away until the coast is clear

Shrew's Lullaby
03:25
|
|||
A bumble bee working so hard for her queen, a salmon swimming slowly upstream, a lighthouse keeper keeping the ships from the shore, a cowboy riding a silver horse
Let your head sink into the pillow and ride by the light of the moon, let the crow lead you to the starlet, say 'hello, my name's mr spoon', climb aboard my plastic rocket, let's fly to the white button moon, I will keep you in my pocket for I know you're really a shrew, and you'll be making the whole world up soon
There are no rules when you sleep, maybe you'll wake in a nest up a tree, dressed as an owl, find that your head goes all the way round, swoop down to a window, hoot hello to your soundly sleeping friend, arrive at your wedding dressed as a bear, marry a yeti and head to the fair, fly the sky coaster to the sun, dive into the ocean, taste all the salt on the tip of your tongue

Andy Skellam Bristol, UK
Andy's music has been said to play like a surreal dreamscape, perhaps because it is the product of late nights spent hunched over a guitar beside the glowing embers of a fire whilst everyone sleeps. It has spawned from the dusty corners & dank barns of his feral childhood wedged roughly between welsh mountains and English riverbeds. ... more
